About the Workshop

On May 16, Pathway Global Alliance and Sputnik India together organized a virtual workshop on fake news and its prevention. More than 200 journalists from more than 50 media houses and channels from 20 states participated in this workshop, along with journalism students from India and abroad.

Victoria gave detailed information about fake news, explaining what fake news is and its purpose. She noted that some people spread fake news for personal benefit, while sometimes fake news gets published knowingly or unknowingly. She emphasized the importance of thoroughly checking news and its content before publication. She also discussed the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in both creating and detecting fake news.

Notable Speakers

Victoria Polikarpova also gave examples of many national and international level fake news incidents and explained how many media organizations had to amend their news and articles. She discussed the role of Sputnik News and provided information about the measures being taken by Sputnik to combat fake news. The workshop was conducted by Olga Dyashva, Chief Representative of Sputnik.

Varun Kashyap, Director of Pathway Global Alliance, while inaugurating this workshop, expressed concern over fake news and urged participants to take necessary steps to stop it. He welcomed all the journalists, institutions and students participating in the workshop.

Rajesh Bagha, Chief Patron of Pathway Global Alliance and State Vice President of Punjab of Bharatiya Janata Party, expressed his gratitude to everyone. Along with discussing the harm caused by fake news, he appealed to all the journalists to propagate the measures suggested during the workshop and make people aware through their media houses.

During the workshop, journalists asked many questions related to fake news and satisfied their curiosity. Victoria answered everyone's questions in detail, providing practical insights and guidance on how to identify and combat misinformation in today's digital age.
